A friend called today to remind me Thanksgiving Day is only 11 days away. I must admit I had not stopped to recognize it was that close. Apparently, November has 5 Thursdays this year with Thanksgiving falling on the 4th Thursday of the month.
Thanksgiving is such a wonderful time of year. It is a time for family and friends to come together to share precious past memories and create new ones. Loved ones are able to spend time together enjoying each others company before the intensity of the holiday season is felt by the rush of holiday parties, shopping frenzy for gifts, holiday decorating and entertaining; along with other holiday pursuits.
Here are a few tips to consider for making Thanksgiving Day more enjoyable and relaxing:
1. Take the time now to find all the favorite holiday recipes. This will give you plenty of time to review the recipes and decide upon the Thanksgiving Day dinner menu. When the Thanksgiving Day dinner menu is decided upon, you will then be able to put together your Thanksgiving Day dinner menu grocery-shopping list. This will better equip you to plan and shop for your Thanksgiving Day dinner and should help prevent you from forgetting any of the items needed for the meal preparation.
2. Plan one evening this week to decorate the home with a few Thanksgiving decorations. This will help inspire the family with the warmth and good cheer that Thanksgiving offers.
3. Plan some time a few days before the arrival of Thanksgiving to do some holiday baking. This will be a great benefit in helping to make the meal preparation on Thanksgiving Day less stressful.
4. We love for the home to reflect a clean and uncluttered appearance for the holidays. Make sprucing-up and cleaning up the home a family event. This will allow more time for other holiday related tasks. After the home is in shape, take the family to a favorite restaurant for a great meal or consider ordering a favorite take-out for the family. End the day by watching a beloved holiday movie.
5. A great way for loved ones to reflect back upon cherished memories is by viewing old photos and family video. Have these treasured resources ready for viewing with your family and friends on Thanksgiving. It will help create that special feeling of warmth and good cheer.
Have a blessed and enjoyable Thanksgiving!
Cheers,
Gin
